Meet Stacy King
Candidate for Board of Trustees Position 5

My Journey
A proud graduate of Odessa High School, class of '99, and lifelong resident of Ector County, my roots in our community run deep. Embarking on my higher education journey at the age of 30, I earned an Associate degree from Odessa College and later a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. This path was not traditional, but it was filled with determination and a passion for learning that I bring to everything I do.

My Experience
I began my teaching career at Crockett Middle School, not just any school, but the very one I attended as a student, working alongside some of the teachers who once taught me. This unique full-circle experience has given me profound insights into the changes our educational system has undergone and the steadfast dedication of its educators. While I have been inspired by many excellent mentors, I have also faced challenges with leadership that have taught me valuable lessons about what our schools need to thrive. Additionally, having the privilege to work alongside my daughter, who teaches English, at both Ector County ISD and most recently Midland ISD, has profoundly deepened my commitment to enhancing our educational environments. This experience has made it even more imperative for me to ensure that the next generation of educators, including my daughter, can thrive in a supportive and dynamic educational setting.
Why I'm Running
I am running for the Ector County Board of Trustees to bring a voice that truly understands the full spectrum of educational experiences—from student to teacher—in our district. Our schools deserve leadership that knows first-hand the daily challenges and triumphs in our classrooms and can translate this understanding into policies that empower educators and engage students.
Vision for the Future
My vision is a school district where educators are supported by policies that recognize and cater to the diverse needs of every student, where creativity and autonomy in teaching are not just encouraged but expected, and where every student has the opportunity to excel in a vibrant and nurturing environment.
Join Me
With a heart full of passion and hands ready to work, I am eager to serve on the Ector County Board of Trustees. Join me in this journey to strengthen our educational foundations and build a brighter, more inclusive future for all our students. Together, we can make transformational change that lasts.
